First things first - there’s no need to feel nervous. Whether you're aiming for the West End or have a shy child taking their first step into singing, we’ve worked with every kind of student and singer imaginable. Our warm, friendly teachers are experts at making you feel comfortable right away. At the heart of our teaching is a nurturing, confidence-building approach that celebrates your unique voice and encourages growth in a supportive environment.
Your first lesson is all about getting to know you. We’ll start with a relaxed chat about your goals, musical tastes, and any previous experience. Then, we’ll move on to some gentle vocal warm-ups at the piano to begin exploring your voice.
We recommend bringing two songs you enjoy to your first session - they can be absolutely anything you like! Don’t worry about having them memorised; we’ll provide the lyrics or sheet music for you on an iPad. All you need to bring is a bottle of water, a sense of curiosity, and a smile. By the end of the lesson, you’ll leave feeling energised, inspired, and excited for what’s to come.

For the first session, absolutely! We warmly welcome you to sit in on your child’s first lesson so you can see how we work, ensure your child feels safe and happy, and get a sense of the positive, supportive environment we create.
After that initial session, we kindly ask parents to wait in our comfortable ground or first floor waiting areas - or, as many parents do, take the opportunity to pop into Aldi next door. Over the years, we've found that students tend to relax more, become more vocal, and make faster progress when working independently with their teacher. It’s all part of helping them build confidence and develop their own voice.
For your peace of mind, we always keep emergency contact details easily accessible and will contact you immediately if needed. We also love keeping parents in the loop through regular chats before or after lessons, via our My Music Staff portal and lesson notes, and at our many shows, concerts, and events throughout the year.

YES! Online lessons are available to students over the age of 8. Anyone under the age of 16 will require a parent or guardian to be listening in to the call for safety purposes. We use Zoom as our platform. We are now very experienced with online lesson delivery, and find it to be just as productive as an in-person session.
